The Next Step

We know we have to move forward, and we will do so one step at a time.  Three months ago the fitness world shut down and we were left to do our own thing at home.  That worked for some and not so much for others.  Now, fitness and dance facilities are opening up, carefully and with approved re-opening plans1

LocoMotion Fitness has been working hard on a reactivation plan, made challenging by a lack of specific direction for our industry and some criteria that may be hard to satisfy (like marking “safe zones” on studio floors).  We know class sizes will be smaller, choreography will be altered to keep you in your zone, and classes will be shorter to accommodate pre-class screening and post-class cleaning.  What classes look like will be different, but I am working to make them just as much fun as they always were.  I am hoping that we will be able to return to the studio later this summer.

So if we can’t yet go to the studio, where do we go for dance fitness?  The dance fitness paradigm is shifting, and LocoMotion Fitness has made the decision to open a “virtual studio.”  Announced back in April, the Zumba® online platform is now at a level where I am comfortable using the technology.  Due to music licensing regulations and fees, I have elected to start with recorded classes that will be accessible for up to 5 hours after uploading. 

Beta testing of my classes will run in July 2020. 

The plan is for two 30-minute classes that you can take separately or back to back.  One class will feature cardio and toning while the other will feature balance and core.  The trick for me as an instructor is that I have a limited selection of royalty-free songs to choose from, none of which I have used before; so, I will be creating all new classes that are suitable for everyone and can be done at home but still meet the needs of active seniors and those with knee/hip replacements.
