What is small group fitness?
It’s not personal training, and it’s also not 20 people in a big room with room for 50 more. It’s not having to get there super early to get a spot where you can see the class leader. It’s not a class leader on a stage or wearing a mic so the back row can follow. It’s not booming music at the front of the room so the back row can hear the beat. It’s not worrying about what you are wearing.

So, if it’s not all this; what is it?
- It’s a class of 10 participants with room to move without hitting someone.
- It’s a social event where you get to know “everyone” in your class.
- It’s being held accountable by your peers to show up and participate.
- It’s where the class leader can see you, ensuring you aren’t hurting yourself.
- It’s a place where you feel safe to exercise, knowing moves can be modified for you.
- It’s not getting the stink eye if you don’t follow the leader exactly.
- It’s being able to see and hear the leader so you can follow and feel successful.
- It’s getting there just before class starts and still getting a good spot.
- It’s knowing your leader is qualified to lead classes for your age group and abilities.
- It’s having the opportunity to talk to the class leader before or after class.
- It’s having a class leader who changes the choreo/songs if they aren’t working.
- It’s attending happy hours and coffee breaks with new friends.
- It’s spending too much time laughing when you could be dancing.
- It’s about community. It’s about wellness. It’s about fun. It’s about connection.
